Description
Learn how to make a rich and flavorful brown sugar syrup at home in just minutes! Perfect for coffee, desserts, breakfast dishes, and cocktails.
Ingredients
-
2 cups dark brown sugar, firmly packed
-
1 cup water
-
6 cinnamon sticks
-
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions
-
In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, stir the brown sugar and water together until fully blended. Add the cinnamon sticks.
-
Bring the mixture to a vigorous boil, stirring occasionally to ensure the sugar dissolves completely.
-
Once boiling, reduce heat to a gentle simmer and cook for 2–3 minutes, or until the syrup thickens slightly.
-
Remove from heat and allow the syrup to cool to room temperature. Discard the cinnamon sticks.
-
Stir in the vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
-
Transfer the syrup into a clean, airtight container and refrigerate. Use within 3–4 weeks.
Notes
For a thicker syrup, simmer an additional 2–3 minutes.
Light brown sugar can be used for a lighter, sweeter flavor.
If using ground cinnamon instead of sticks, strain the syrup before storing.
This syrup is vegan and dairy-free!
