Ingredients
1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
3½ cups (420g) powdered sugar, sifted
½ cup (45g) unsweetened cocoa powder
¼ teaspoon salt (optional)
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3–5 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
½ teaspoon instant espresso powder (optional)
Instructions
Beat butter until light and fluffy (2–3 minutes).
Mix in cocoa powder until smooth.
Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing between additions.
Stir in vanilla extract and cream/milk until desired consistency is reached.
Add optional espresso for depth of flavor.
Whip until frosting is fluffy and smooth.
Notes
Sift sugar and cocoa for smooth texture.
Adjust cream to control consistency.
Chill if frosting becomes too soft.
